September 2010 Wallpaper

I've decided that I'm going to share an image each month for you to have on your desktop. This one was taken almost exactly a year ago, and has been a favorite of mine ever since. We all went to the Thanksgiving Point Gardens to enjoy the wonderful landscape and beautiful flowers. I hope you enjoy it all month long!  Just click on the image below and add it to your desktop.  For a larger version (2400x1600) click here.

Experimenting with film again

When it comes to film, I'm not the greatest! I have a few rolls that I just developed, and some of the pictures are from my trip to Moab in May! I have a Holga 120N, and recently I tried out my dad's German made camera, a vintage Voigtlander from post WWII era. In both cases, it's fun to see what I get back from the lab. Neither one of the cameras has a focusing screen, so it's a guessing game to figure out how far away your subject is!  Here are a few selections from my latest attempts at film...

These first two were taken with the Voigtlander.

These last three are from Arches N.P.  I enjoy these simple compositions because they draw you in.  What do you think?

In memory of fallen trees

Today they started knocking over the trees in the orchard. So I decided to post some pictures of them in bloom.

Manti LDS Temple

Another one from our trip to Arches... I actually took it on the way back, a little bit after midnight. It was a long day!

Arches National Park

Back in May I took a trip to Arches for a photography workshop with Joel Addams. I learned a lot and Shane and I had a good time without the kids. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the trip.

Stormy weather

Recently we've had several storms roll through our neck of the woods. I've been told it's the monsoon season... in the dessert! But they're right... This pictures was from 2 years ago, and I remember that the weather was crazy. We had a pond mudhole in our backyard. The view from the frontyard was much better though!

Summer harvest

I took these a couple weeks ago when I was driving home. I like to drive through the backroads to get home sometimes so that I have a chance to stop and take pictures. This field caught my eye as we were heading towards the mountain, so I took a little detour to get to it.

Grandpa's house

A couple weeks ago we spent some time with the grandparents. We were supposed to be camping at the lake, but there were bears in the campgrounds. So we opted for a safe weekend in the backyard! Here are a couple shots from around their yard.

Just back from St. George

We had a great time in St. George, even though it was pretty hot!  On Sunday evening after the kids fell asleep I went out and got some shots of the St. George LDS Temple.  During the day it is amazing to see the stark white temple next to the red cliffs!  But night time is georgous!  Here are two different views.

I hope to get back to a regular blogging schedule. Today was catching up from the weekend laundry and tidying up the house.
